Suspended Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, has denied coercing Witness E to lie in his favour, and said he’s willing to make a comeback to the Madlanga Commission to give another side of his story.
On Monday, Witness E told the commission that Mchunu personally tried to coax him into lying under oath, producing an audio recording as evidence.
An undercover police officer, Witness E, said Mchunu sought to manipulate evidence to falsely implicate Crime Intelligence head, Lt-Gen. Dumisani Khumalo.
The recording, captured during a direct phone call, places Mchunu at the centre of an alleged attempt to subvert the commission’s work.
In a statement seen by dated January 27, Mchunu denied the allegations as “inaccurate and untruthful”.
“I have taken note of the evidence that was presented by the second witness at the Madlanga Commission on January 26, 2026, who was referred to as Witness E.
“I deny the allegations he makes about me, including the interactions on his statements. I’m aware that I am due to appear again at the commission, and I will seek to respond,” Mchunu said.
He said his lawyers were already dealing with the matter.
According to Witness E, during these calls, Mchunu allegedly sought information about supposed victims of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) and about visits to Magaqa’s killer in prison.
He explained that he knew nothing about the matters.
The commission is expected to clarify Mchunu’s return to the stand.
