Christall Kay Opens Up About Losing Everything and Starting Over

Popular reality TV star from The Real Housewives of Johannesburg and The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa, Christall Kay has bravely spoken about the hardships she went through after losing everything she owned.

On Friday, 9 January 2026, the well-known YouTuber and podcaster Lungelo KM had a sit-down interview with the reality TV star, where she opened up about a painful chapter in her life. During the honest conversation, Christall Kay spoke about how her life changed completely when she lost her home, her possessions, her sense of stability and even love.

She shared just how deep the loss was, saying, “Very few people know that I actually lost everything. I actually lost everything i had even lost my love, my house, I lost every material possession you could ever think of, i lost it all, an I’m happy to say that because i’m still here, and I’m still standing, and still moving forward, and my opportunities are still coming, and i’m still rising and the fact that i had lost less money wasn’t stopping me. It doesn’t make me less than a human being; who you are and how rich you are is inside of you.”

Christall made it clear that wealth is not defined by what someone owns but by who they are as a person. She explained that material possessions do not determine a person’s worth, adding, “It’s not determined by your material possessions.”

She went on to describe how painful it was to let go of things she loved dearly. “I loved every little thing i had from my beautiful chaise lounge couch, to my record player which very ancient, that was all taken, I sold everything I had to, and it was a very painful process,” she said. Christall also revealed that she had to move four times in the space of two years, carrying 24 tons of belongings, simply because of economic pressure.

The reality star shared that she went through this difficult period alone, without support. “I had no family, no friends. I was supporting my son and my mother. When you’re in that situation it’s funny enough how you don’t have friends.” She added that this dark time affected both her career and mental health.

Christall also revealed that she missed out on season three of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg because she had been out of the spotlight for a while. “That was a very dark time and it affected my career and it affected my mental health.”
