Actor Bonko Khoza Lands New International Role in The Nowhere Man

South African actor Bonko Khoza, best known for his powerful performances in The Wife, Marked and Ithonga, has secured an exciting new role in an international television production. The award-winning star continues to build his global profile as the network has officially acquired the exclusive U.S. rights to the six-part drama series The Nowhere Man.

According to Deadline, the drama stars Naturi Naughton-Lewis alongside lead actor Bonko Khoza, who is also known internationally for his appearance in The Woman King. The South African-produced series is set to premiere on January 16, with new episodes dropping weekly on Fridays. This marks another major milestone for local storytelling reaching global audiences.

In The Nowhere Man, Khoza plays the role of Lukas, a former Special Forces mercenary who is deeply affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After years of living a violent life, Lukas turns his back on his past and tries to survive quietly as a junk collector on the streets of Johannesburg. His life is marked by isolation, pain and an attempt to stay invisible in a world he no longer wants to be part of.

However, Lukas’ attempt at a peaceful life is interrupted when he witnesses a home invasion. When he chooses to intervene, he is pulled back into the dangerous world he has tried so hard to escape. Forced to fight for his survival, Lukas must confront his inner demons and face the dark secrets of his former life. The series explores themes of trauma, redemption and what it means to truly escape one’s past.

The Nowhere Man was filmed entirely on location in South Africa, adding authenticity and depth to the story. The series was created by Motion Story and produced by Phillip Wolmarans and Nick Keulemans. Directing duties were handled by Fred Wolmarans and Gareth Crocker, with Crocker also serving as the showrunner. The production team includes additional executive producers Chris Lawrance, Colleen Lawrance, Sean Mik’ael Butler, Naturi Naughton-Lewis and Two Lewis.

Taking to social media, Bonko Khoza expressed his gratitude and excitement about the project. He wrote about the six-part drama series, saying, “Thank you for an amazing opening weekend. This project was truly a labour of love with the most amazing team, cast and crew. Watch The Nowhere Man now – only on @primevideoza.”

With its gripping storyline, strong performances and international reach, The Nowhere Man is set to further establish Bonko Khoza as one of South Africa’s most compelling actors on the global stage.
