It all started when fast rising star Thuso Mbedu took to her Twitter account to announce another massive win in her career just days before we see her in action on a series called Underground Railroad, which will premier on 14 May.
Announcing the incredible news, Thuso started off by saying, “So this happened. Dreams do come true. Once again the love and support you have shown me is astounding and has left me speechless. I’m so humbled by your words of encouragement. Thank you for believing in me. For those asking “how”? Y’all know me: pursuing purpose and staying ready. That will never change.”
Kuli Roberts praised the young actress for celebrating her win quietly and not announcing her every move. Unlike “someone” she did not name, who announced every single move and win, be it big or small.
“Thuso works quietly, ngesafa ngabanye, (we would not hear the end of it if it were someone else.) There would be posters about every interview and trips to the toilet,” she tweeted.
She then took it further by saying, “Someone once did a poster for a Radio interview. The poster was so ambiguous, we assumed uMomomo had a new slot. Obviously we congratulated her on her new slot, cause we are animals. Kanti uyothetha for 5 minutes (she was only going to speak for 5 minutes) Akunzimar.”
Even though Kuli did not mention anybody’s name, all the clues still pointed at one person and that is Coming 2 America star Nomzamo Mbatha. Leading up to the premier and even after, Nomzamo posted her every move, radio and TV interviews as well as guest appearances on various tv shows.
