Nandi Madida Honours Her Father as He Retires After an Inspiring Medical Career

Media personality, singer and The Motherhood Network host Nandi Madida has shared a deeply emotional and inspiring moment as she celebrated her father’s retirement from medicine. The star revealed that one of her biggest personal highlights of 2025 is her father officially retiring as a medical doctor, marking the end of an extraordinary and meaningful career.

Taking to social media, Nandi opened up about the moment and explained that the full weight of her father’s achievement is something she feels may never completely sink in. She shared, “My personal highlight for 2025!

Yesterday, my father retired as a medical doctor. And I don’t think the weight of that moment will ever fully land.”

Nandi went on to reflect on her father’s journey, which began during apartheid, a time when opportunities were intentionally limited for Black South Africans. Despite facing overwhelming obstacles, including growing up in extreme poverty and suffering from a permanent eye condition that almost left him blind as a child in rural KwaZulu-Natal, her father never gave up on himself. She wrote, “He became a doctor during apartheid, when the odds were deliberately stacked against him and all Black South Africans… And yet he never doubted himself. Not once. He believed in his calling long before the world made room for him.”

According to Nandi, her father’s strength, discipline and unwavering belief created a foundation that allowed her and her siblings to grow up feeling safe, supported and free to dream. “Because of his mind, his grit, his discipline, and his unconditional love, my siblings and I got to live a beautiful life,” she shared.

The proud daughter also honoured the sacrifices her father made over the years, many of which went unnoticed at the time. “The late nights. The sacrifices we didn’t even see at the time. The quiet consistency of showing up not just as a brilliant doctor, but as the best father you could be,” she wrote, adding that he never sought recognition for his efforts.

In her touching tribute, Nandi made it clear that her father will always be her hero. “I will always be Daddy’s girl.

Until the wheels fall off.” She also expressed how much it meant to her when her father said that his children had been good to him, calling it a privilege rather than a burden.

Nandi ended her message by thanking her father for shaping who she is today, crediting him for her love, ambition and faith. “Thank you for being you.

Thank you for being my father. Thank you for choosing courage, again and again. I love you endlessly. Siyabonga Dr Thami Mngoma AKA Dad.”

Her heartfelt message has moved many, with fans praising her father’s legacy and the beautiful bond they share.
