GQ South Africa hosts its highly anticipated GQ Men of the Year (MOTY) 2025 celebration this evening, December 11, in Johannesburg north. Now in its 7th year, the event takes on a refined and intimate format, honouring this year’s distinguished recipients alongside their partners and close friends of the brand.
The exclusive gathering will feature a soulful live performance by acclaimed musician Wandile Mbambeni, whose sound perfectly complements the mood of the evening. Later, DJ Lebreezy – fresh off her residency at Zioux – will take over the decks to deliver a vibrant soundtrack for the night.
GQ Editor-in-Chief Molife Kumona says this year’s celebration aligns with the global GQ Men of the Year direction: “Following the global theme, MOTY 2025 is an intimate affair – with a bigger celebration on the horizon for early 2026. This year is really about giving our recipients their flowers in a setting that allows us to truly honour their impact.”
The GQ Men of the Year Awards recognise individuals who have shaped culture, driven influence, and created meaningful impact in South Africa and beyond.
As Kumona highlights, the evening is not about competition, but about acknowledging people who “march to the beat of their own drum” and whose contributions will inspire generations to come.
This year’s event is proudly supported by Huawei Nova 14 Series, Roberto Vino Milano (RV Milano), John Craig, Issey Miyake Parfums, Narciso Rodriguez, and Wahl – partners who continue to help bring the GQ vision to life.
GQ South Africa looks forward to a memorable evening of reflection, recognition, and celebration of excellence – an intimate moment before the brand ushers in a larger, expanded GQ Men of the Year celebration next year.
