Big change at toll gates in South Africa

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (Sanral) has announced that toll booths in South Africa will no longer accept magnetic swipe cards for payment, effective Monday, 1 December 2025.

Instead, the roads agency is rolling out tap-to-pay functionality, enabling road users to pay toll fees with contactless technology.
