South African radio personality, music DJ, and podcaster Sol Phenduka is celebrating a major career moment after being nominated for Best Traffic Presenter for his show Siz The World on Kaya 959. The announcement immediately sparked excitement online, with fans flooding his comments section to share their reactions.

Sol proudly shared the news, posting: “Look who’s nominated for best traffic presenter at the radio awards.”

Supporters on X were quick to cheer him on. @unclescrooch commented: “It will be very awkward when you win.”

Another user, @Zambanel, showed even more enthusiasm, saying:

“Where do we vote? Sheshisa Sol, I’ll even put it in my budget if we have to pay. I wanna see something. And you better announce this on the podcast.”

@UMntuNgabantu wrote: “imagine being awarded for doing a great job, for a job that you are not doing.”

But many still supported him. @msmonakhisi added: “We gonna vote for you because also you deserve it.”

Sol’s nomination comes just months after Kaya 959 parted ways with him. The station ended his contract as the breakfast show’s content provider following an internal review. His suspension and eventual dismissal were linked to controversial comments he made about actress Minnie Dlamini during an episode of the MacG Vodcast, where he is also a co-host.

Acting Managing Executive of Kaya 959, Dave Tiltmann, explained the decision at the time:

“Kaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG Vodcast, where Sol Phenduka is an integral part of the presenting team. Misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini were unacceptable and inconsistent with respect owed to women. As a content provider of our flagship breakfast show, his alignment with comments made on the vodcast does not reflect who we are as a station, nor what our listeners expect of us.”

Shortly after his suspension, Sol responded briefly on the MacG Vodcast, saying:

“This happened this morning. When I left the meeting, they said don’t say anything. So, I don’t say anything because of the confidentiality clause. But I did nothing.”
