A Plus Considered for 2nd Deputy Speaker in 9th Parliament

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, is reportedly being considered for the position of 2nd Deputy Speaker in Ghana’s 9th Parliament. This was revealed by a source close to MyNewsGh.com.

A Plus, a vocal critic of the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and a prominent commentator on UTV’s United Showbiz, has expressed gratitude for the consideration, describing it as a significant honor, as reported by News Ghana.

“Just the consideration, or even the rumour, is a great honor, considering where I’ve come from,” he stated in an interview.

While no official communication regarding the appointment has been received, the possibility highlights his growing influence in Ghanaian politics.

A Plus, who contested the December 7 parliamentary elections as an independent candidate, secured an impressive 14,277 votes out of 36,026 valid votes cast.

His victory unseated the incumbent MP, Naana Eyiah Quansah of the NPP, who garnered 11,637 votes. Yawson Mohamed of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) trailed in third place with 10,112 votes.

This development underscores the National Democratic Congress’s strategic considerations as they finalize leadership positions for the incoming parliament.

If confirmed, A Plus’s appointment would mark a significant milestone in his political career.
