Dear Opera News Community,
I send you warm greetings! As we come to the end of the year 2024, it serves me a great pleasure to take a moment to reflect on our journey and share our vision for the coming year – news around the world, Africa and in Ghana as a digital news platform. Opera News Ghana is proud to have come your way with a diverse range of topics that meet the needs of our consumers, and we will continue to be your trusted source of information, education and entertainment.
A Year of Action
This year has seen challenges and triumphs, losses and gains, sadness and happiness, protests and celebrations and we were at your doorsteps bringing you up to speed on all events as they unfolded. From politics to entertainment, Opera News reported stories that matter most in our opinion.
Paramount among these stories we covered were the National Democratic Congress’ (largest opposition party) protest dubbed ‘Enough is Enough’, the unveiling of the running mates (especially for the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress), the election of the New Patriotic Party flagbearer and the subsequent issues that came with it.
We were prompt and accurate on our reportage for the presidential and parliamentary elections. Despite the ‘political turbulence’ during this year’s elections, we did our best to ensure that we got you the news as it was, without partiality or favouritism. Opera News was spectacular in the coverage of the elections – from the voting to the declaration.
It was not only about politics. Our team also worked hard to bring you compelling stories on entertainment, football, lifestyle, and business. Trending stories on celebrities, football teams, fashion, economy and the latest tech news were not left out. We provided insightful content that we knew will be to your benefit.
Our Success Story
As we look forward to a great and an exciting new year, permit me to share with you our remarkable success story and achievements for the year under review. This was done by our collective efforts, and you were at the centre of it. Our News Hub platform was restored, and we are glad to have empowered thousands of creators who took advantage of this to share their content with us. Through our innovative strategies, we were able to support local and international creators while we appreciated their efforts with a fair compensation. This year alone, we have paid millions to our creators, giving them a source of livelihoods.
Again, our team also played an instrumental role in supporting the launch and growth of Minipay, our innovative fintech platform. The feedback we have received from our users on minipay has been inspiring as financial inclusion has become very important in the world, especially in Ghana.
Appreciation and Future Aspirations
I am deeply grateful to our indefatigable creators, editors, and contributors. I am in constant awe of your passion, commitment, dedication and all you do to make sure that we continue to deliver high-quality content. Special gratitude goes to you, our readers, for choosing us for your source of reliable news. Thank you for making us number one. We appreciate your feedback and engagement. I also want to thank Opera News Team leaders, especially Lucy for your great support and guidance. You are the best!
I ‘hear the sound of abundance’ for the coming year. 2025 will be a great year. Looking ahead, we are committed to introduce new features, expand our coverage, deliver quality content and provide cutting-edge digital solutions. We are committed to making our platform available for information, education and entertainment as we delve deeper into issues that matter to you. We will be happy to hear from you.
