Frank Ribery scored a goal in each half as Bayern Munich recorded a 2-0 home win at the Allianz Arena over Hoffenheim on Saturday afternoon in a Bundesliga clash played in front of a capacity crowd in Munich. As early as the third minute Ribery flashed a ball across the face of goal after dribbling into the visitors’ box from the left. But there was no Mario Mandzukic to knock the ball into the back of the net, unfortunately for the home fans. Then Ribéry gave Bayern the lead from a tight angle. He sprinted past Beck to fire past Casteels to send the hosts 1-0 ahead in the 19th minute. In the 28th minute Bayern suffered a huge blow when Thomas Muller was withdrawn for Shaqiri as a precautionary measure after sustaining a nasty cut beneath his left eye earlier on.Three minutes into the second half, Ribery made it 2-0 with his second of the match. Toni Kroos fell over his shot, but passed it left inside the box for the unmarked French winger to easily curl it home.
On the hour mark Shaqiri did well to get a shot away and – in fact – the strike was goalbound before it hit a Hoffenheim head and went out for a corner.
The match finished Bayern Munich 2-0 Hoffenheim thanks to two Franck Ribery strikes either side of half-time.
Most of the Bayern play had been possession-based ahead of the back four so leading front man Mario Mandzukic’s chances were limited.
This victory gives Bayern 21 points from seven league matches this season while it ends Hoffenheim’s three-match unbeaten streak.
