Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao says he is not competing with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Colombian continued with his brilliant form as he scored another brace during the 4-2 win over Real Betis on Wednesday night.
This took his tally to ten goals in six appearances in all competitions for the Rojiblancos, while he has also been scoring for the Colombian national team.
“I’m not competing with Cristiano or Messi; I score goals to help Atletico, nothing more,” Falcao told reporters.
“I’m only concerned with scoring goals; we are competing with 19 other teams, not just against Barca and Real Madrid.
The win lifted Atletico to second place on the log standings, just two points behind leaders Barcelona, and six points ahead of city rivals Real, but Falcao believes they have to continue working as a team.
“I couldn’t do this [score goals] without the squad,” he said. “We had hopes of doing well in the beginning of the season and we are taking things game by game.
“We are doing well because we have the mentality to not think beyond the next game.”
Atletico will now travel to Barcelona where they will face Espanyol in their next La Liga game on Sunday night.
