Nana Asante Bediatuo, counsel for the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party has launched a scathing attack on the Deputy Minister of Finance, Fifi Kwetey saying that his persistent allegations against the NPP flagbearer as a drug user could be an indication he (Fifi Kwetey) is also a user.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, Nana Asante Bediatuo said, that is the only way the Deputy Finance Minister, despite his inability to provide concrete evidence to back his claims, continues to make the allegations on political platforms.
Nana Asante Bediatuo’s comments follow statements by Hon. Fifi Kwetey at the launch of the campaign of MP aspirant for the Odododiodio constituency for the NDC, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, alleging that the NPP had a flagbearer “who wakes up every morning with cloud of marijuana all over his head.”
Nana Addo’s lawyer however says “it is a stupid statement to make. I think that it not strange coming from people like Fifi Kwetey. If Fifi Kwetey, as a Deputy Minister of Finance, believes that Akufo Addo is a drug addict of a drug user, what has he done about it? It is unlawful. What proof has Fifi Kwetey offered to show that Akufo Addo is a drug user?”
“As a Deputy Minister, it seems to me that he ought not to be making those kinds of unprovable allegations; unless he saying that he himself smokes drugs or takes drugs and therefore has done so with Akufo Addo and can say he is able to prove that. It’s a lie and he knows it’s a lie! ”, he stressed.
Nana Asante Bediatuo further discredited the aspiring Member of Parliament for Ketu South stating that “we must also remember that this is a man who is a self-confessed liar. He has admitted he is dishonest. He told us that Ghana’s gold bars were stolen and then it turns out that he lied, why should we believe anything he says? It’s unfortunate that a great country like Ghana should be saddled with a lying, dishonest persons as Minister of no less a Ministry than the Ministry of Finance! It’s shocking.”
On allegations that Nana Addo had failed the people of Abuakwa South – a constituency he had represented in Parliament for 12 years until 2008, Nana Asante Bediatuo pointed out that Fifi Kwetey “does not know the Akufo Addo’s record in his constituency.”
