Magistrate Hilary Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 28th June 2011 cautioned and discharged one Modou Gaye, who is standing trial on impersonation, contrary to Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia.
The particulars of the offence revealed that on or about 7th June 2011 at the Banjul International Airport in Kombo North, West Coast Region, while profiling officials of Spanish Airlines were checking passengers, the accused presented himself with a Swedish passport number 63006005 bearing the name of Kebba Jammeh, to the officials with intent to travel to Spain, thereby committed an offence.
When the fact of the charge was read to the accused person, he pleaded guilty. The prosecutor handling the case, Sergeant 413 Sanyang, adopted the facts and tendered the passport as exhibit. In the magistrate’s ruling, he forwarded the passport to the state and cautioned and discharged the accused person.
