Copperbelt Provincial Minister Mwansa Mbulakulima yesterday inspected several development projects in Kitwe and restated the Government’s commitment to improving all sectors of the economy.
Mr Mbulakulima said the Government was committed to transforming the country’s economy through sectors such as Agriculture, Education and the rehabilitation of roads.
The minister inspected Chibuluma and Mindola roads currently under construction by Mopani Copper Mines, and new lavatories in Wusakile Township.
Mr Mbulakulima said through Government initiatives and the assistance of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, a number of roads were being worked on.
He said Chibuluma Road, an industrial and commercial road as well as international route, was of economic importance to the country.
Mopani chief engineer Nick Lionnet said the Chibuluma road, which was in a bad state before, would be completed by the end of the week.
On the Wusakile lavatories, Mr Mbulakulima said the project was a successful empowerment for the Zambian people as they would now use the new personalised lavatories instead of communal ones.
Elios company site manager Mwansa Muloboko said the 1, 800 lavatory units being constructed for 650 houses would be completed by the end of September.
Meanwhile, Mr Mbulakulima told journalists in Kitwe that he was not aware that the Kitwe City Council (KCC) had allocated land meant for a bus terminus and the FIFA goal project, to him or other MMD officials.
