Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes it will not be long before the club is competing for major honours.
The Reds failed to achieve Champions League football at the end of the 2009-10 season, and completely missed out on Europe last season.
But the takeover and the exit of Tom Hicks and George Gillett has seen a new dawn on Merseyside, with Kenny Dalglish coming in as manager as Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez being signed during the winter transfer window.
Now the 31-year-old midfielder expects the improvement to continue and eventually lead to silverware.
“What I can say to the fans is that Liverpool will be back among the trophies sooner rather than later because we are moving in the right direction,” Gerrard said, according to The Sun.
“We have got fantastic players, the structure of the club is healthy from top to bottom and when that is the case the team won’t be too far away from winning.”
Gerrard has won the Champions League, the FA Cup, League Cup and the Uefa Cup, but the Premier League has so far been elusive.
He added: “We will get the championship again but it’s difficult to say when because that adds a lot of pressure to the team.”
