Wolves defender Jody Craddock has signed a one-year contract extension
The 35-year-old arrived at Molineux from Sunderland in 2003 for £1.75 million and has made 234 appearances for the club.
He admitted that a year ago he thought last season would be his final campaign, but is delighted he will get at least another year in the top flight.
“It’s good news that it’s all signed and done and dusted and I can concentrate on the year ahead,” he told the club’s official website.
“This time last year I was maybe thinking it would be my last season which was fine, so to get another year is a big achievement.”
The penning of the deal was understood to be a formality between the player and Wolves, with manager Mick McCarthy having said in May that Craddock was to be given a new contract.
The defender won the squad’s player of the season award for the 2009-10 campaign, but was restricted to 16 games this last term becase of injury.
The Englishman is hoping his fitness will hold out this year and he is willing to work hard to stake his claim for regular football.
“I’ve always said it’s about concentrating on my own game and doing what I can do then that’s the main thing,” he continued.
“I’ve been keeping myself fit during pre-season to give myself the best possible opportunity to be involved at the start of the season.
“If I am involved then great, if not then I’ll work as hard as I can to be involved.
“It is a young man’s game in a sense of physique and how fit the players are but at some point you do need that experience as well.”
