NIC Bank Golf Tour Series starts this weekend at Eldoret Club. The event is part of the nine club nights tours that will be sponsored by the bank this year. Golfers will enter the event as individuals and the events will be played on stableford format basis. Over 2,000 golfers are expected to feature in the event and exciting prizes will be on offer.

According to the group managing director, James Macharia, the series is aimed at recognising individual players and giving them a platform to enhance their talent. Macharia said the series that runs in nine events countrywide will be used to showcase the bank’s products among them instant asset finance. “This is exciting and we intend to use golf to connect with prospective clients, entrepreneurs, business owners and existing clients especially at our newly opened branch in Eldoret.”

He said the NIC bank is committed to motivating the golfers and popularising the sport which is mostly associated with the rich in the country. “The bank seeks to recognise talented individuals and help them grow with the game. We believe by supporting local players, we will give them the opportunity to focus on their game as opposed to the costs of participation,” said Macharia.

From Eldoret this weekend, the series will visit Vetlab, where it will sponsor the July 6th Club night before going to Limuru on July 16. The series will then visit the slopes of Mt. Kenya at the Nanyuki Club on July 23rd before heading to the Nyanza on August 6. Nakuru club host the event on September 30th while Kiambu having a date with the show on 30th of the same month. The series will then visit Thika Sports Club and culminate at Nyali on October 29th.

NIC Bank Group developed interest in the game early this year when they sponsored six Kenyan professional golfers at the Kenya Open in March. Those sponsored were Simon Ngige (Thika), Ali Kimani (Vet Lab), David Odhiambo (Nyanza), Greg Snow (Nairobi) and James Lorum (Njoro).
