Arsenal are reported to be willing to hand Jack Wilshere a new and improved five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2016.
The 19-year-old impressed with consistently strong performances last season, his Champions League showings against Barcelona being among the high points in what was his breakthrough campaign.
The young midfielder has also forced his way into England’s senior national team, having already made five appearances under manager Fabio Capello.
Now The Mirror claims that the Gunners will offer the starlet a five-year contract, and give him a weekly hike of more than £10,000 on his current £40,000-a-week wages.
Wilshere made 49 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring two goals and creating nine more.
