West Bromwich Albion have reportedly added their name to the list of clubs interested in signing Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge, according to The Sunday Mercury.

Albion manager Roy Hodgson is apparently keen to add to their striking options, and sees the England Under-21 international as the ideal choice for the Hawthorns club.

However, Newcastle and Bolton have also been linked with a move for Sturridge, while Stoke are reportedly preparing a £6 million transfer bid.

However, unfortunately for these would-be buyers, Chelsea seem to see Sturridge as a long-term prospect, and will only be likely to let him go out on loan, despite Sturridge’s keenness to fight for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge.

Ironically, Sturridge was the subject of a bid from Hodgson’s predecessor at the Hawthorns, Roberto di Matteo, before the former Manchester City striker joined Bolton on loan in January.
