Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Steve Morgan has said that he believes Steven Fletcher and Stephen Hunt will give the team greater potency in attack as the club look to stay in the Premier League next season.

The two players were high-profile transfers for the Molineux club last term, but struggled at times with injury and illness before showing their class and experience as Wolves staved off relegation.

Morgan told the club’s official website: “The two Steves, Fletcher and Hunt, both did great jobs.

“We missed Hunty through injury for a lot of the season, but when he came back, he was fabulous.

“His goal against Blackburn a few minutes from the end was the most valuable goal ever scored at this club financially.

“He was a great signing and I’m sure didn’t want the season to finish.

“He left here having scored one of the best goals he’ll ever score in his career and one of the most crucial goals ever for Wolves.

“He then went off to Ireland and was man of the match in all their games.

“He was really on fire and I hope he comes back in the same form – he was completely different class at times.

“Fletcher was the top scorer without playing in anything like the amount of games he perhaps could have played in.

“What would he do with a full season?”

Wolves have already signed midfielder Jamie O’Hara and goalkeeper Dorus De Vries, and Morgan sees these and future signings as exciting developments for the club.

He added:  “Some of the signings we had last year were fabulous and they’re now being added to with Jamie O’Hara and with one or two more, we’ll be looking forward to the season.”
