The controversy dogging the nomination of Dr. Jonah Madudgu as minister from Plateau State continued yesterday as the alumni of the association of Plateau students added its voice to the controversy, calling on the presidency not to endorse Madugu as it says doing so would be antithetical to what the Goodluck administration stands for.

The alumni in a statement by its co-ordinator, Yunusa Isa, said while the administration of President Jonathan has made the breath of fresh air its mantra, Dr. Madugu personifies all that is not fresh in today’s Nigeria as he has served various administrations in the country, including that of Abacha and has been recycled over and over again.
The statement urged President Jonathan to put into action his resolve to give the country a break from the past by appointing only people who have fresh ideas and not those who have been a part of the past.
“We wish to therefore call on our amiable President not to dash the hopes of the younger generation who see in him, hope to be liberated from recycled elders who are adept in taking all the quotas meant for their children and the younger generation,” it stated.
The group also drew the attention of the President to the fact that the nominee is from the same senatorial district and ethnic group with the Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang.
