Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle insists that summer transfer targets are definitely on his mind, but has warned fans not to expect them to arrive in a flurry.

The Trotters squad has been suffering from a lack of depth in recent times and the Scotsman is aware of the overhaul the club requires, especially with the futures of Gary Cahill and Ali Al-Habsi far from certain.

Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley has reportedly agreed terms with the club and should officially sign on the opening day of the transfer window on July 1, and Coyle is understood to want to add at least six more faces to the Bolton line-up, but admits it will not happen overnight.

“There will be players coming in but is something going to happen right away? Probably not,” he told The Bolton News. “A lot of people are away and sometimes players aren’t available, and I’m not one for bringing players in just for numbers. They have to be of the right quality.

“There are a few we are chasing down but it all comes down to price and availability. But come the start of the season, we’ll have a few fresh faces, I’m sure of that.”

Despite having to trim down on the squad’s wage bill, the 44-year-old feels he will be able to add quality.

“I know where we need to strengthen to make us better,” he said. “It’s not just a case of getting people in, and it would be detrimental to everything we’re doing here.

“Since coming in there were a lot of players who we no longer have who were on good salaries and everything else that goes with it. I have streamlined that to an extent but that won’t be at the expense of quality.”
