23 June 2011 Demonstrators clashed with police outside Senegal's National Assembly on Thursday as they protested against a constitutional amendment changing the rules of presidential elections. Stones and other missiles were hurled at police, who retaliated with teargas and jets of heated water from water cannons, reports Agence de Presse Sénégalaise from Dakar. Musanze and Muhanga were yesterday relegated to the second division after just one season in the top flight.

Musanze, which was at the foot of the Primus league going into the final game needed to win and pray that the other clubs drop points but it was not to be.

Mukura’s 2-0 win over Police at Kamena stadium and Amagaju’s 2-1 defeat of Kiyovu in Nyamagabe ensured that both clubs survived the drop.

Muhanga’s 2-all draw against Etincelles at Umuganda stadium was also not enough to keep them in the lucrative league.

Elsewhere, champions APR wrapped up their campaign with a 1-0 win over Marines while Rayon Sport were condemned to their worst finish in 7 years after a 1-0 defeat against AS Kigali. The blues finished 7th.

The league is expected to start in early September and the transfer window officially opens this morning.

Yesterday’s results

APR 1-0 Marines

La Jeunesse 1- 3 Musanze

Amagaju 2- 1 Kiyovu

AS Muhanga 2- 2 Etincelles

Mukura 2-0 Police

AS Kigali 1-0 Rayon
