Uganda Rugby Cranes captain Mathias Ochwo is doubtful for the Victoria Cup second leg against Zimbabwe in Harare next week.
Ochwo hurt his rib in the Africa Cup Group 1B tournament game against Madagascar at Kaydondo on Saturday. Uganda recorded a 58-30 victory over the Markis. “I went for an x-ray which showed only a bruise and not fractures. The doctor advised massaging which I am yet to start,” Ochwo, an openside flanker, told Daily Monitor yesterday. “Treatment will start soon. Right now, I don’t know if I can make it. To be honest, I feel like the game (on July 2) might be too soon.
“It is still painful. I cannot move my upper body. I cannot even pass the ball. I don’t want to be a ghost player on the pitch.” In case he is ruled out, back Timothy Mudoola will lead the team whereas Steven Ogwete could take his starting place.
Uganda will find it almost impossible to win the Victoria Cup after losing to Zimbabwe 25-15 here in what doubled as an Africa Cup Group 1B clash. Uganda reconvened for the training yesterday.
