AKURE – THREE persons have been arrested over the murder of a one-year old girl, Dada Akingboye, in Igbokoda, a riverine area of Ondo State, for alleged rituals.

Police authorities in the state said the suspects have confessed to the killing of the toddler.

The State Police Command’s spokesman, Mr. Adeniran Aremu, said the suspects went to the house of Akin Akingboye of Omotehinse street Igbokoda, at night  and kidnapped Dada who was sleeping with her mother.

Dada’s corpse was later recovered in a nearby bush with her eyes removed by the suspects.

Her corpse, according to the Police PRO had been deposited at Ayemafuge Private Hospital, Igbokoda, in Ilaje local government area of the state.

In a related development, police and the family of the mother of the National Legal Adviser of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Sola Oke, are still in the dark over whereabout of the 83 years old Madam Mariam Oke, abducted by gunmen at Igbokoda last week.

Lamenting the development, Chief Oke said “no clue has been found to unravel the characters behind the incident which took place under cover of darkness at  Ilaje local council of Ondo State.

The state Police  said however, that they were yet to come up with any lead “but we are sure of getting them”, Aremu said.

Meanwhile, security operatives in the State have been put on red alert following last week’s attack on the Police Headquarters in Abuja.

Already, the police authorities have directed owners of abandoned vehicles on highway/strategic locations and vehicles involved in accident parked at police station, to remove them immediately.

A statement by Aremu said some measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and property.

According to him, the police command had directed armed men to conduct thorough stop and search at every nook and cranny of the state and appealed to the public to bear with the police.

He equally urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.
