OWERRI— Imo State House of Assembly has set up an ad-hoc committee to critically look into the finances and administration of the 27 local government councils in the state.

The ad-hoc committee is headed by Dr. Vincent Mere, who represents Owerri Municipal Constituency in the House of Assembly.

The House also constituted a five-member ad-hoc committee to investigate the dilapidating structure of five-star Imo Concorde Hotel, Owerri.

The committee chairman is Mr. Acho Ihim, representing Okigwe State Constituency in the House.

Another ad-hoc panel was instituted by the House to liaise with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ascertain what was being done by the electoral umpire to conduct state assembly polls in the remaining local council areas where election did not hold during the last general elections.

The members of this panel include the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Donatus Ozoemena; Mr. Ikechukwu Amuka; and Chief Simeon Iwunze, representing Isiala Mbano state constituency.

Meanwhile, Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, has equally been slated for investigation by the House, as a four-man panel had been constituted for this purpose.
