Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy is pleased that his team are still in the Premier League, and was realistic about his team’s chances looking at the new fixtures.
Wolves begin their season away to Blackburn Rovers, but McCarthy believes that simply being in the Premier League is more important than which teams they face and when they do so.
McCarthy told the club’s official website: “The important thing to me is that the fixtures are Premier League ones.
“I suppose it’s good that we don’t have a concentrated run against the top teams like we did last season when we faced Manchester United twice, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in less than three weeks.
“It’s more thinned out this time but hey, every Premier League fixture is tough – there are no easy games.
“It doesn’t matter how they come though. The top and bottom of it all is that we have to play each team twice.”
Wolves stayed in the Premier League despite losing 3-2 to Blackburn Rovers on the final day of last season, and the Midlands club are looking to be higher up the table this season.
