    Huambo — The Albano Machado airport in Huambo province may receive again aeroplanes from next August, with the conclusion of the first phase of its rehabilitation programme, said Monday, here, the minister of Transport Augusto da Silva Tomás.

    Speaking to the press at the end of a visit to the site, the minister said that the contractors are complying with the agreed terms and it is confident that it will become operational in August.

    The minister stressed that the facelift project that started last May will provide more comfort, safety and improved aircraft operation.

    On the occasion, the Government official said he had received assurances from AZAGOP company, responsible for rehabilitation and modernization of the airport runway in Huambo, which until August this year will be able to receive big aeroplanes, which will improve air traffic in the province.

    During his stay, the minister also visited the general railway workshop of Benguela, which will also benefit from rehabilitation and modernization works.

    The visit of the Transport minister to Huambo province ends Monday.
