OWERRI – Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has appealed to the protesting 10,000 job beneficiaries of the state government to exercise patience with his administration over the suspension order he made on their jobs during his maiden radio and television broadcast.
He also told the Imo youths that he had already set up a committee to review the 10,000-job programme of the immediate past administration, with a view to aligning it with the prevailing realities in the state.
Okorocha stated this while addressing the protesters when they stormed Government House to express their annoyance over their summary sack from service. The governor reiterated his preparedness to improve the lives of Imo people, adding that although the process which led the last administration to approve and release appointment letters to the job beneficiaries lacked merit.
Okorocha said: “My passion and love for Imo people made me to cut down the security votes from N6.5 billion to N2.5 billion.”
