LAFIA—The Governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, has pledged to work for the betterment of the state and provide an enabling environment for the state to move forward in the next four years.
Speaking at his swearing in at the Lafia Township Stadium, Al-Makura said he will work day and night to ensure citizens of the state enjoy true dividends of democracy and the Congress of Progressive Change, CPC, government in the state will be accountable for its action.
According to him, ‘’our administration will be open in governance and we will work to overcome the challenges confronting Nasarawa State by ensuring we bury political arrogance.
‘’We have come to an end of politics of division, petiness and false promises as we will ensure that all promises made will be matched with actions in the next four years.”
He said, ‘’the problem of our state has encountered in the past was a collective failure as a result of myopic individuals who ran this state as a personal property but this has come to an end because the CPC government will ensure rapid development of basic infrastructure and social amenities.”
The new governor, however, described former head of state and presidential candidate of CPC in the last election, General Muhammadu Buhari, who was present at the event, as an embodiment of service.
He also warned traditional rulers in the state to steer clear of partisan politics.
