Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov has insisted that he is happy at the club and will not be returning to Italy this summer, despite plenty of reported interest.
Reports have linked the full-back with a move back to Serie A, where he made 85 appearances for Lazio in three seasons, with AC Milan, Juventus and Inter all interested in securing his services.
However the Serbian has insisted he is ignoring any speculation and is looking forward to his second season at City as the club perpare for their first foray into the Champions League.
“Newspapers have to do their job and I can’t change anything,” he told Mondo.
“Not even one club from Italy has called me but even if they would I wouldn’t answer.
“I have been playing for City for just one year and this season I only adapted to English football.”
The defender joined last summer for £19 million and after an injury hit start to the season went on to make 24 appearances as City finished third in the Premier League and lifted the FA Cup.
“I’m sure that next season I will be able to perform even better,” he continued.
“I’m quite happy with how things are going for me in the UK.
“This season we reached our goals. We won the FA Cup and got ourselves a ticket for the Champions League.
“I’m sorry that I had many problems with injuries, especially in the first half of the season but I still managed to get 40 games. I’m really happy.”
