THE Zanzibar Judo Association has acquired the services of an international Japanese coach, Masahiro Maeda who will teach the sport in the Isles for three years.
President of the Zanzibar Judo Association (ZJA), Tsuyoshi Shimaoka said in a statement on Friday that the coach arrived in the country on May 31, ready for his new assignment.
He said Masahiro from Fukuoka, Japan has got 7th Dan Grade of Kodokan Judo Japan, which is the highest Dan holder in Africa.
“He started his assignment on Monday by a training session at Mlandege Dojo in Zanzibar,” said Shimaoka. He was optimistic that the coming of a new trainer will help lift the standard of judo in the Isles.
