Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has insisted that he and his team-mates are ready to beat the best as they look towards qualifying for a Champions League place with victory over Chelsea this weekend.

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League table, with only five fixtures remaining to leapfrog Manchester City for the lucrative fourth spot.

Dawson told The Sun: “Hopefully we can put things right because we will be fighting till the last kick of the season.

“Everyone is trying to make sure we qualify for the Champions League again and that means we must beat the top teams in our run-in. We will give everything as always.”

Tottenham, who have seen their Premier League campaign fade in recent weeks with only one win in six, will want to get back to winning ways against Chelsea this weekend after a late Simon Cox equaliser for West Bromwich Albion on Saturday saw them drop two more vital points in the fight for Champions League football.

However, Spurs will have to beat the odds if they are to beat Chelsea as it has been 21 years since the north London club have won at Stamford Bridge, and their in-form opponents will be as hungry as ever as they look to chase Premier League leaders Manchester United to top spot.
