Zimbabwe/South Africa: Majabvi, Zvasiya At Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have quietly welcomed two Zimbabweans, Justice Majabvi and Lincoln Zvasiya, for trials at their training base in Naturena.

Both players started sweating it out Wednesday morning, with Majabvi joining in from Bloemfontein Celtic where he briefly trained last week.

Majabvi a defensive midfielder in the mould of Tinashe Nengomasha is a full Zimbabwe international who is now a free agent following the expiry of his contract at Austrian club LASK Linz, who were relegated from the Austrian Bundesliga last season.

Zvasiya – who is currently attached to money-rich Zimbabwean club FC Platinum – is an Under-23 international central defender. He was groomed at the Aces Academy – the very same club that gave birth to former Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona.

The 21-year-old had trials at SuperSport United last year when he was still on loan at Monomotapa before making his move to FC Platinum this year.

He was last week rewarded with his first call-up to the Warriors for the upcoming friendly against Zambia on Wednesday.

The two players are expected to train with Chiefs for 10 days.

Meanwhile, Musona last night flew out from Johannesburg to Germany to join his new Bungesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim following the issuing of his visa.

Musona has signed a five-year contract with Hoffenheim after spending the past two years at Chiefs, where he scored 28 goals in 48 games.

Since signing his contract last week, Musona had been waiting for the issuing of his visa that would then enable him to travel to Germany to join his new teammates.

He is expected to have a light work-out with the rest of the Hoffenheim team today as they prepare for the start of the Bundesliga this weekend.

Before flying out to Germany last night, Musona had spent the previous day back home in Zimbabwe after making the short journey across the Limpopo to see his family before leaving for Germany.

With the Bundesliga kicking off this weekend, it is uncertain that Musona will be thrown straight into the mix when Hoffenheim travel to face Hannover 96 at the AWD-Arena.
