ABUJA-36 state governors, under the aegis of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, have written the Chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates, vowing to step up the fight against polio until the last trace of the disease was eradicated in Nigeria.
In a letter signed by the Forum’s Chairman, and Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the governors, however, commended the efforts of the Bill and Melinda Foundation in ridding the world in general and Nigeria, in particular, of the scourge of polio.
Amaechi also praised the partnership which Gates’ foundation had forged with the NGF and the close working relationship the American multi-millionaire businessman had with his predecessor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, in a concerted effort to eradicate the scourge of polio from the country.
The letter, dated June 23, read: “We appreciate your partnership with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, and your invaluable contributions to eradicate the menace of polio.
