Mogadishu — Avery highly decorated ceremony on Thursday night held in Mogadishu’s presidential (Villa Somalia) to mark the 51st anniversary of southern Somalia independence and the untity of north with south making Somalia republic.
Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adam, Somali acting president and the speaker of the parliament s, Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, the prime minister, ministers lawmakers, officials of Somali military and guests have attended the ceremony.
Enthusiastic and excited Somali national singers have exhibited concerts, plays and songs entertaining the participants in the ceremony.
When the clock struck at 12:00am, Somalia’s national flag was raised by members of Somali military.
During the beautiful ceremony, Somalia’s prime minister, Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali addressed and sent a congratulatory message about the celebrating 51st anniversary of southern Somalia independence and the untity of north with south making Somalia republic to all Somali people wherever they are.
Ali spelled out that the independence came after struggle, dedicating precious lives of Somali heroes, calling for all participants to pray for the dead Somali braves who fight against the colonial rule.
On the other hand, he called on Somali Diasporas, businessmen and rich people to help the drought affected people who are facing starvation and problems inside and outside of the country.
He also called for the international community to act quickly to deliver humanitarian assistance to these starving needy people.
“Many drought affected people are pouring into the capital escaping from al Shabaab run areas because they blocked the needy people to get help from Somalis and other aid agencies” the premier said while addressing at the ceremony.
Lastly, he wished Somalia to regain peace, government and prosperity.
