The 2011 MTN/FAZ Premier Division yesterday went on a two-week recess with Power Dynamos at the helm of the log on 25 points, same as Red Arrows, who beat Zanaco by an identical score-line in week 13 midweek clashes.

The matches started with four teams Zanaco, Power, Arrows and Nakambala Leopards joint on 22 points, only separated by goal differences but ended with the Kitwe side coming out tops, thanks to a solitary goal from midfielder Emmanuel Chimpinde.

Chimpinde scored the goal in a match played at the Railway grounds on fourth minute to give the Kitwe side the much-needed points, pilling pressure on relegation-threatened Kabwe Warriors, who remain stuck on 13 points and fourth from bottom.

    Arrows 1 Zanaco 0

At Nkoloma Stadium, Arrows had to wait until the 62nd minute before left-back Alex Sichone could break the deadlock with a stunning free-kick from outside the 18-area box, beating Racha Kola in the Zanaco goal.

Zanaco did most of the attack but failed to do what mattered most in football, allowing an Arrows side that attacked less to snatch all the three vital points. Adubelo Phiri could have scored a brace had it not been for his inaccuracy at goal.

The defeat left the bankers on 22 points while Arrows, who have a game in hand against Zesco United, shot up to 25 points.

    Zesco 3 Nakambala 0

Mazabuka surprise package, Nakambala Leopards were brought down to earth by clinical champions Zesco at Kafubu stadium in Luanshya.

The Ndola side scored twice through Derrick Kabwe and Clifford Chipalo before being gifted a Denny Maleka own goal after their goalkeeper Jacob Banda missed a penalty.

    Kalewa 0 Blades 1

At Musa Kasonka stadium in Ndola, Timothy Sichela reports that the Chililabombwe side Konkola Blades stayed two points adrift of joint leaders after beating rock-bottom promotion side Kalewa.

A Chipulu Chileya tap-in off a 63rd minute corner by Ephraim Banda made all the difference for the border side whose victory came at a cost to their coach Keegan Mumba who was sent off the bench in closing minutes by Kitwe refeeree Alfred Zwaki for dissent

    Nkwazi 1 Buffaloes 4

Green Buffaloes came from behind to silence Nkwazi in a match that saw striker Linekar Mukwisa score a brace in the 50th and 65th minutes, with Brian Chilando and Allan Mukuka scoring the other two in the 78th and 89th minutes respectively in an exciting match played at Edwin Imboela stadium.

This was a needed victory for under pressure coach Aggrey Chiyangi who needed to win the match after a string of poor results to move up to 18 points while Nkwazi, who made a false start with a 20th minute penalty through Derrick Mwansa, remained on 14 points.

    Nkana 2 Roan 1

Revitalised Nkana yesterday honoured their former patron and second president of the Republic of Zambia, Frederick Chiluba with a victory over Roan United at Nkana Stadium, goals coming from Evans Kangwa and substitute Renold Kampamba.

Kangwa gave Nkana the lead in the 10th minute after benefiting from a Perry Mubanga’s cross to give his side a deserved 1-0 lead going into half time.

And on the restart, Nkana stand-in coach, Zeddy Saileti introduced Kampamba for Mwila Kabwe and the substitute made instant impact sealing the victory in the 60th minute after a neat interchange of passes with Kangwa.

Roan reduced the deficit in the 74th minute through their captain Perry Sinkala heading home a Focus Sinkala’s cross past Nkana goalkeeper Kennedy Kalale.

    Forest 2 Rangers 0

In Ndola at Dola Hill, Chingola visitors Nchanga Rangers continued the downward spiral losing to the other Rangers in the league after a double strike by Nasha Kaya on 15th minute and another on 77th minute by Mala Besa.

    Eagles 1 Lime 0

Troubled Green Eagles beat fellow strugglers Lime Hotspurs to move up to 13 points while the Ndola town side is stuck on nine points.
