Barcelona midfielder Xavi would not fear losing his place to Cesc Fabregas if the Arsenal captain joins the club this summer.

The 24-year-old Gunners midfielder has been linked with a £31 million move back to his former club.

Earlier, AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani let the cat out of the bag, revealing Fabregas would be joining “another club”, when questioned over his club’s interest.

And Xavi’s comments come just 24 hours after his Spain team-mate said he would have “no problem” if Arsenal sold him to Barcelona.

As reported by AS.com, the 2011 Champions League winner said: “Competition is always good and Cesc is an extraordinary footballer. If he comes, he will be here to help out.”

On his own form, Xavi added: “I feel good physically, I’m very motivated and content.

“Last year I suffered some tendonitis in the Achilles tendon but I’m over that. I’ll try to start off as best I can and at the highest level.”

Youngster Thiago Alcantara renewed his contract with the Catalans until 2015 on Wednesday, and the 31-year-old expects progress from the Under-21 European Championship winner.

“It’s great news, he is a fantastic player and has lots of talent. The competitiveness within the group is good,” claimed Xavi.

Meanwhile, Barca’s Bojan Krkic appears close to an exit after Roma’s director of sport Walter Sabatini said a deal was “done” last week.

However, the European champions’ vice-captain feels his side will lose a great player if the 20-year-old striker moves to Serie A.

“He has shown he can do well at Barcelona, but it’s down to the club and coach. If he goes then I wish him well as he is a great player,” he said.
