Tech Mahindra, a global systems integrator and business transformation consulting organisation focused on the communications industry, declared Nigeria as the headquarters for its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) operations in Africa.
President, Corporate Affairs & Business Services Group, Tech Mahindra, Mr. Sujit Baksi, in a press statement disclosed ambitious plans to scale up its African operations after successfully operating in Nigeria for two years.
He disclosed that over the last two years, the firm has partnered leading telecom operators in Nigeria, like MTN and Multilinks and also recently won the prestigious Bharti Airtel Africa deal for setting up Airtel’s BPO operations in seven countries.
Baksi said, “we are extremely excited to be a part of the growing market of Africa. We have already helped our customers in Africa reduce their operating costs and generate new revenue streams. Tech Mahindra has recruited over thousand local employees in Nigeria and it is our strategy to nurture local talent for effectively executing our BPO operations.”
Also, Vice President, Sales & Global Alliances, Mr. Krishna Gopal, said, “with its telecom domain expertise and global experience over two decades, Tech Mahindra is committed to offering best in the industry services to telecom operators leading to enhanced experience for the end consumers in Nigeria and the Africa continent as whole.

The two top executives of the company touched upon the telecom scenario in Nigeria, namely Mobile Number Portability and its flexibility to consumers in Nigeria. They outlined the need for the regulators and government to actively pursue SIM registration, which is absolutely necessary to ensure identity traceability and security for the nation.
