Freetown — One of the rising stars in the Sierra Leone Premier League, Abu Bakarr Mansaray aka ‘Robinho’ has been invited for trial by Swedish top division club, Kalmar FF.
According to the invitation letter signed by the club’s director, Svante Samuelesson, the trial is scheduled to run from August 1 to October 31, 2011. The invitation letter reads: “Our club would like to invite Abu Bakarr Mansaray to Sweden to train with our team for the period of August 1 to October 31, 2011.”
The 17-year-old Ports Authority FC winger, who joined the club before the commencement of the current league season, has become one of the hottest prospects in Sierra Leone football with his creative skills and lightening pace.
The winger was spotted early this month during an exhibition match which was witnessed by Swedish club officials at the SLFA academy, Kingtom. Recently, the player scored the all important goal for Ports Authority against Diamond Stars as the Water Front Boys edge closer to lifting the league crown.
A very delighted Mansaray said he is determined to give out his best. “I’m happy for the invitation and I’ll not allow this opportunity to slip by because it’s my dream to play professional football,” he said. “As a young player my dream has been to move to Europe at an early stage and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Kalmar FF are currently playing in the highest Swedish league called Allsvenskan and has won three Swedish national cup titles and a league title. They are currently lying third in the ongoing Swedish league.
Mansaray is not the only Ports Authority player that will be heading for trial in Europe as the club’s hit-man, Donald Wellington aka ‘Kobor Kobor’ has also been invited to undergo trial with Norwegian top division club StabÃoek Fotball.
Wellington’s trial is scheduled to start on July 15 and will last for two weeks.
