Sunderland have confirmed that South Korean striker Ji Dong-Won has officially signed for the club.
The 20-year-old joins from Chunnam Dragons for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract.
Despite his young age, Ji has already made 11 appearances for his country, scoring six goals, including four at this year’s Asian Cup, where South Korea finished third.
It is not, however, the 6’2” forward’s first foray into English football, having been on Reading’s books for a year in 2007-08, although he never made a first-team appearance for the club.
And after a successful year with Chunnam, scoring 16 in 44 games during his only season with the club, Ji has been snapped up by manager Steve Bruce.
The striker becomes Sunderland’s fourth acquisition so far this summer, with Keiren Westwood, Sebastian Larsson and Connor Wickham also making the move to the Stadium of Light.
