Chelsea have announced they have loaned out defender Jeffrey Bruma to Hamburg for the 2011-12 season.
The Dutch defender will help fill the void created by Joris Mathijsen’s departure from Hamburg to Malaga earlier in the summer for a reported fee of €2.5 million £2.2m.
Bruma, who joins Hamburg on a season-long switch, with the option for one more year, spent three months on loan at Leicester City last campaign, making 11 appearances.
The 19-year-old is contracted to Chelsea until 2014 and will reunite at Hamburg with Michael Mancienne, Jacopo Sala and Gokhan Tore, who all recently joined the Bundesliga side from the Blues on a permanent switch.
