Nairobi Star (Nairobi) Dun Okinyo 29 June 2011 Kenya will be represented at the this week's inaugural Africa Cricket Premier League in Kampala, Uganda by the under 19 squad. Kenya opted for the youthful side after most players in the senior national team refused to sign the contracts issued to them by Cricket Kenya (CK) last Friday. CK chief executive officer Tom Sears said the squad will use the event that has attracted five countries to prepare for the U19 World Cup qualifiers in Ireland next month

The Associations of National Olympics Committees of Africa (ANOCA) 30th anniversary celebrations kicked off on Monday in Togo with a firm commitment to improve the continental sporting environment. ANOCA President General Lassanna Palenfo outlined the role the ANOCA have played in shaping and developing sports in the region. “Over the last 30 years, our membership has increased from 33 to 53 and we will soon be welcoming a new member -South Sudan. Our members’ representation in the IOC has also increased and so has our participation in the Olympic Game.”

IOC President Jacques Rogge in a pre-recorded video message to the session in Lome acknowledged the important role ANOCA is playing in Africa. Kenya is represented at the ANOCA extraordinary session by a delegation of four led by NOCK Chairman Kipchoge Keino who is also a member of the International Olympics Committee, NOCK Secretary General F.K Paul, Julius Korir, Los Angeles Olympic Champion (3000m SC) and former world marathon record holder champion Paul Tergat
