Luanda — The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, on Wednesday in Luanda swore in 33 new ambassadors that he recently appointed.
The ceremony, that took place in the Presidential Palace, was attended by members of the executive and top presidential aides.
In his speech, the country’s Chief Magistrate said the new ambassadors can count on his support and that of the government in the fulfilment of their diplomatic mission.
“I think that the with the qualifications that you have and your personal qualities are the guarantees that you will represent Angola in a dignifying way and be able to promote and defend its interests in the countries you have been accredited to and in the regions in which you will work”, emphasised President José Eduardo dos Santos.
The newly appointed officials are the ambassadors to Morocco, Greece, USA and South Africa, respectively Manuel Aragão, Isabel da Silva Feijó, Alberto Bento Ribeiro and Josefina Pitra Diakité.
Feliciano dos Santos, Apolinário Correia Arcanjo do Nascimento, Fidelino de Jesus Figueiredo and Maria dos Reis Ferreira will lead the diplomatic missions to Guinea Bissau, UN Office in Geneva and International Organisations, African Union Singapore and Austria, respectively.
José Eduardo dos Santos also swore in the ambassadors to Hungary, Liseth Pena, United Arab Emirates, Flávio Fonseca, Germany, Alberto Neto, Canada, Agostinho da Silva Neto, and Mexico, Leovigildo da Costa e Silva.
The Head of State also swore in the new ambassador to South Korea, Cape Verde, Sweden, China and Brazil, respectively, Albino Malungo, Josefina da Cruz, Brito Sozinho, João Garcia Bires and Nelson Cosme.
Balbina da Silva will lead the diplomatic mission to Zambia, Ana Carreira goes to Ghana, Osvaldo Varela was assigned to Switzerland, and Isaias Vilinga goes to Mozambique.
The head of the executive also swore in the ambassadors to Egypt, António da Costa Fernandes, Argentina, Hermínio Escórcio, Zimbabwe, Hendrik Vaal Neto, Poland, Domingos Culolo, Italy, Florêncio de Almeida, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Miguel
Fernandes, Cuba, José César Augusto, Russia, Joaquim Augusto de Lemos, and Guinea Conakry, Manuel Ruas.
