In a gathering that had distinguished and erudite Nigerians including Rtd. Chief Justice of the Federation Justice Mohammed Uwais, Chairman of Labour Party of Nigeria Comrade Dan Nwanyanwu, Senator Mamora, Lagos Guber Candidate and renowned Pharmacist Mr Jimi Agbaje and host of others present, Matthew, the last son of Late Primate of the Eternal Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim church, Late Dr Godfrey Otubu shone like a million stars as he was commended severally for his leadership qualities and academic excellence at the recently held Graduation and Valedictory Ceremonies of the Atlantic Hall schools Poko, Epe, Lagos state.

Matthew with mum, Lady Celia Otubu, Principal of Atlantic Hall Mr and Mrs Andrew Jedras and his brothers James and Andrew.

At the ceremonies, the name of Matthew Amatoritsero Otubu who was the Head Boy of the school for the 2010/2011 academic session continued to recur like a decimal as a young man with exemplary leadership qualities that the audience erupted in an uproar as his citation was being read.

Aside from the winning the leadership Award, 15 years old Matthew was also honored by the Principal of the school, Mr. Andrew Jedras, with a special award for exemplary leadership.

Part of his citation said that Matthew was a bold and courageous student who expressed himself without fear or favor. It also read that he was an active member of over 8 clubs and associations within the school as well as the school’s Prayer Warrior who was very close to God. That was not all; the citation also said that from his first year at school, the young man had always written a yearly suggestion on how the school should be improved.

They said that before his graduation, he had already submitted to the school, a blue print on its website which the school management has approved amongst others. The most interesting thing according to the citation was that young Otubu did all these without affecting his academic excellence.

Speaking later during the reception that held after the valedictory service and prize- giving, the Principal and CEO of the Atlantic Hall schools Mr. Andrew Jedras described Matthew as a young man that was so gifted by God. He advised him and other graduands of Atlantic Hall to continuously strive for excellence assuring that if they did, Nigeria would be having a new crop of leaders in the nearest future. He said Matthew touched the lives of every student, teacher and management member alike.

Also speaking, Mr. Jerome, his school drama teacher said Matthew was a prodigious young lad who made his mark wherever he went just like his contributions improved the club in no small way.

For his proud mum Dublin based internationally renowned Solicitor Lady Celia Otubu who had arrived from the UK with her other son’s Andrew and James to celebrate with their brother in what she described as a very “joyous moment” for the entire Otubu family, she was ecstatic and almost was mobbed by the audience when they realized that she was the mother of the young man whose citation was being read. “I feel so happy and thankful to Almighty God for this honor he has done to us by guiding Matthew.

Ordering his footsteps and supporting him through out his stay at Atlantic Hall secondary school” She bursts out. ” The entire family is very proud of his achievements and I thank the school for molding and taking care of him in the past six years and I am sure his father is elated about his accomplishments so far that his son has made him so proud. We plan a thanksgiving service for this glorious moment”
