David Tagoe 28 June 2011 News about the mad rush for membership on the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is without doubt cementing and lending credence to the assertion that the plethora of personalities vying for positions on the committee are being driven by selfish interests, other than the interest of Ghana football. People of varied backgrounds within the Ghanaian football establishment have submitted forms in the name of either Premier League Clubs or Division One League clubs, on whose backs they want to ride to achieve their selfish ambitions

A local financial house, BancABC has breathed life into Dynamos, who have been struggling to pay their players’ salaries by offering the highest paid player a monthly salary of US$400 with the lowest getting US$300.

DeMbare have been battling to attract sponsors and sealed a three-year deal with BancABC a fortnight ago which will see the banking concern forking out the players’ salaries among other things.

The Standardsport can exclusively reveal that BancABC credited Dynamos players’ accounts held with the bank on June 22.

The players are being paid according to their contracts.

The players are also entitled to winning bonuses from the club’s coffers.

According to documents shown to Standardsport, DeMbare forwarded a total of 25 registered players and seven officials who had their new BancABC accounts credited with their salaries on Wednesday.

BancABC managing director Hashmon Matemere said the sponsorship was going to give players enough time to concentrate on playing football rather than thinking of unpaid salaries.

“We gave them (Dynamos and Highlanders) US$100 000 each for the remaining part of the season. The clubs will get US$16 667 each month. From that amount we are going to peg the salaries budget at US$13 000, but if the club thinks their wage bill has to be more than that, then they have to pay the remainder.

“Out of the US$100 000 we are also looking at things like kits, so that is why we are pegging our salary bill at US$13 000 to accommodates other expenses,” Matemere said.

BancABC have turned into one of the biggest sponsors of football in the country and they also sponsor the BancABC Sup8r Cup. Dynamos and Highlanders have been battling to pay their players salaries and bonuses. The clubs depend solely on gate takings but the running costs of the club have been depleting their coffers.
