Luanda — The Angolan singer Yola Semedo pledged on Tuesday in Luanda to sensitize the population, mainly the pregnant women in order to join the fight against malaria, a disease which is killing of people in the country.
The singer said so to Angop, while delivering 1500 mosquito nets impregnated with insecticide in the Ngangula Augusto Maternity Hospital.
She said that it is rewarding for artists to use their images, aiming for the promotion of the fight against malaria.
Yola Semedo, who is a representative of the US Oil Company of Chevron, works in social partnership with the referred firm in order to promote health initiatives and fight against malaria in Angola.
She said that the donation of mosquito nets is very important as it prevents and combats the disease.
The singer also said that her campaign aims at combating malaria through music because this disease continues to kill many children and pregnant women in Angola and Africa.
