Freetown — English Premier League giants Newcastle United are believed to be stepping up their interest in Sierra Leone and AIK duo, Ibrahim Tetteh Bangura and Mohamed Poborsky Bangura.
Report earlier stated that the English side were only interested in signing Tetteh Bangura but having seen the two strikers forging a strong partnership upfront, the Toons are now tempted to make a move for both players.
According to skysports, reports in Scandinavia claim that the Premier League side has run the rule over both men, and already 21-year-old Tetteh Bangura has admitted that the Magpies had been following his progress in the Swedish league.
“I know Newcastle has seen all my matches and following me,” he said.
AIK sporting director Jens Andersson admitted that Mohamed Poborsky Bangura is also on the Toon’s radar.
“The interest hasn’t faded, it’s no lower than a few months before,” he told Fotbolldirekt.se. “I think that he is just becoming better and better. The big difference is that he so far hasn’t scored many goals, but they will come and I think that the clubs that follow him know that.
“Foreign clubs see him in each game and they know what class he has. And there are more now than earlier this spring that follow Mohamed.”
Andersson admitted to eurosport.se that there is a lot of European and Swedish interest in the pair but could not make any further comment.
“That there are a lot of clubs at Rasunda to study the players, and the good thing was that we won the match 3-0 and the pair scored all the goals,” Andersson said.
