Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has been derided by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis after the Blues boss admitted interest in bringing striker Ezequiel Lavezzi to England.

Mancini has been on the lookout for a player like Lavezzi to strengthen his attacking options as Carlos Tevez’s future remains in the balance amid rumours that he is unhappy at City.

The Italian coach recently admitted he has looked into the possibility of bringing Lavezzi to the City of Manchester Stadium, but the Napoli chief laughed off claims that the striker would be leaving Italy anytime soon.

“We all have the money but we are here and no one has called us,” De Laurentiis told Corriere dello Sport

“Hence, this story makes me laugh. My dear Mancini, I am sorry for you.

“Evidently, you anticipate moves of the City owner Sheikh Mansour that are not true to reality.”

The Argentine, who scored six goals last season, is valued at ÂŁ26 million and is contracted to Napoli until June 2015.
